The Pentel Sharp series has been my go-to mechanical pencil since grade school. Maybe it’s nostalgia talking, but something about the Sharp seems right. It’s been a few years since I’ve used one, but I recently picked up a P205 in burgundy , and I must say I missed having a decent mechanical pencil. Now, to pick up some Hi-Polymer erasers...

Kinja'd!!!

I also recently picked up a new pocket knife. I’ve never had a good general carry pocket knife, and I figured it was finally time. This one’s a Shrade Imperial IMP22Y, and for $10 it seems like a decent knife, yet one I won’t mind if it gets a bit beat up.

Pentels are great, but the Quicker Clicker is the K ing of Pentels.

I use a Pentel mechanical pencil everyday at work, but I run the 0.9mm lead due to my heavy hand.

That knife looks a lot like a Case Sodbuster Jr which is what my dad carries. I carry an Ontario Knife Company RAT II. A nice, legal, locking blade that is not too spendy at about $25.

The Sharp’s a great pencil. I still have the one I bought in college back in 2012. Still works!

I second the Quicker Clic ker. My daily carry is now a Boy Scout twin-blade locker. It was made in China, but seems to be a decent little knife.

Kinja'd!!!

I picked it up on clearance from the Scout shop along with several others. I let my son  pick the one he wanted, gave some away. and kept this one for myself.

Zebra 701 in blue and a matching pencil. Just a solid stainless tube and clicky bit, but pure perfection... for 7 bucks.

Had this little guy in my pocket on Sunday, not thinking ahead that we were taking the kids to a show later in the day. Security was super strict (for no good reason), and I had to make the wrenching decision to throw it in the trash... Easy to replace, and not that expensive, but damn. I’d probably had it for 20 years!

Why thank you sir. I subscribe to the “buy nice or buy twice” mentality. I’ve had both of these for over ten years now and they’ve yet to leave me wanting anything else.

I generally agree with you, but on Sunday I had to pitch my nice little Buck - my   “ office slacks” EDC knife - I’ve had for like 20 years because I didn’t think ahead that we were taking the kids to a show in the afternoon. Security was super strict for no good reason, and they made me physically put it in the trash. Ugh. So stupid, so painful. Luckily it will be easy to replace and was just $20. If our car was closer, or if I was carrying anything like your Benchmade, I would’ve gone back.

I think I still have a few from ~2002 somewhere. They really hold up well!

I've used these in the past, too. They are nice, but I never got into them like the Sharps.

That's a shame!  That looked like a nice knife.

They’re spendy now too, since discontinued they’ve shot up in price. I’ve apparently got like $600 sitting in my pen/pencil drawer.

I like the crispness of the 0.5mm. As an added bonus, nobody tends to borrow mine because they can’t seem to write more than a few words without breaking the lead. For some reason, I have no issues with it.

I was also looking at a Case Sodbuster Jr.  The Imperial seems like a Sodbuster, but cheaper.  Time will tell if that was a good decision.

Luckily they still make & sell them, so I’ll probably just buy another. It’s small and light, perfect for slack s - was my EDC knife 4+ days per week.

It really is. I have a couple, actually. No regrets if I lose one or drop one overboard.
